I have been playing Cities Skylines for more than 2 years. Like most of the Cities players, I started with Sim City and switched to Cities: Skylines because of its customization features. The mods, scenarios, maps, assets are fabulous. The inventory of assets and mods have grown rapidly over a couple of years.

Most of my friends know about Cities Skylines through Whatsapp status. I put screenshots and videos of my cities to let them know how creative I am!! When I did this for the first time, a lot of people curiously asked me about the game. The surprising thing is that the game is recently launched and not many people know about it (not even avid gamers). I think this might be due to the genre of the game.

In cities skylines, basically, you need to build and maintain a city. You have to start developing from scratch! This is an open-ended game. The more resources you provide, the more it asks. Once you have plenty of people in your city, the demand for commercial zone increases. Once you allot the commercial zones, they ask for industries which can supply goods. When you zone industrial areas, the demand for residential zones increases as industries needs workers to function smoothly. You need to provide basic public services like water, health, fire and police services in all the zones. In addition to this, you need to develop public transportation, parks, unique buildings (to attract tourists). In a nutshell, you are the boss of this virtual world.

Though I have created dozens of cities in the game, my favourite city is the one I have named as Mumbai. It is inspired from the railway network of Mumbai. Creating this city has been my favourite pastime. It was fun to replicate real Mumbai in the game. Planning local trains network was the best part out of all. Have a look at my virtual yet beautiful MUMBAI.

Since its first launch, Paradox Plaza has introduced many upgraded versions of the game. I developed Mumbai before Green Cities update. Since then, I have been updating the city with every patch. It’s so much fun to work around and solve city problems! Unfortunately, with near about 2 lakh people living in my city, it has started throttling my laptop. Nowadays, it is taking 10 minutes to load the game. Framerate has gone bad due to the hardware limitations. Though I have a graphics card in my laptop, I guess it is not sufficient to process the background math. Interestingly, this has given me the opportunity to work in new cities. I am planning to purchase a new gaming laptop which can cater to the needs of this game.

The game has changed the way I look at the world today. I am planning to start a youtube video series on the game. I hope it will become reality one day…
