Being an Electrical engineer, I am proud to share one of the most useful apps released by Government of India. The ministry of power, coal and new and renewable energy has released the app called ‘GARV’ for windows, android and apple platform. The app provides real-time monitoring of complete rural electrification plan of the government. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s one of the ambitious project ‘complete rural electrification by 2018’ is happening around the country. Some odd 8 to 10 villages are being provided with electricity. Some of them are connected off-grid with the help of solar panels. Some villages are too far to transport the equipments at the site. The government is taking due care to ensure that every village in the country gets electrified. Prime Minister Modi is known for good governance and GARV is an excellent example of it.
With GARV app, you can see how many villages are yet to be electrified, what are the recently electrified villages, no. of villages in which electrification is under process, etc. They have even provided the details of regional officers for further assistance. The app size for android is 3.1 MB and for windows, it is 2.65 MB only. The dashboard view gives overall scenario of electrification plan.
This may not be an eye-catching thing for non-electrical person but we electrical engineers know the importance of network expansion and its impacts on power system. This is going to be a big moment for the India in May, 2018 when all villages will be electrified. As of now (when I am writing the post), 44% goal has been accomplished. I congratulate minister of power, coal and new and renewable energy (separate charge), Mr. Piyush Goyal for this initiative. Keep the good work going on and all the best for the deadline.
